Nomination Letter

Manningham Council  Volunteer Group of the Year Nomination  Since 2001 FaithCare has consistently worked to assist those in our community in their time of need.   In 2008 they launched the ‘Partnership Program’ which has helped establish a place of hope for community members in low income situations; a place that meets needs, equips, strengthens and partners with 25 families and individuals in our community each year.   Partnership families are provided with access to counseling services, budgeting assistance, life skills courses, grocery parcels, bread, clothing and more as we work together to accomplish goals, access hope and achieve change. For an hour each Monday night throughout the year both the volunteers and participants meet for coffee and a friendly chat. Children are cared for so that parents can relax and discuss their week, burdens are shared and emotional support is always on offer.  In addition to this weekly event the Faithcare progr...

The Speech

The speech that changed my life.  Hello and welcome to Faithlands 2007 Christmas Production “For the love of you”. My name is Angela and this is my short story. I was born in a dramatic way – Arm first, literally - It’s called transverse and it happens in about one in a quarter of a million births, and is probably one reason my mother and I are not close.   It was just such a rough start and what occurred throughout the next 26 years was so much worse, with the exception of two miracles, my beautiful children Jessie and Chloe. About three years ago I made the decision to try and start a new life, I was hoping we would find one filled with love, acceptance and compassion, but trying to find what we sought without any idea where too look was overwhelming. It’s been an intense 3 years with much confusion, many tears and massive mistakes. It was during this time, luckily that I was connected with some amazing people, A fantastic therapist - Lisa, who encourages me to hea...

The speech you probably haven't heard. 'A Call to Action: A Call to Love' by ~ Grace Tame

The speech you probably haven't heard.    'A Call to Action: A Call to Love' by   ~ Grace Tame "To the rest of the community, I ask you - if nothing else - you simply keep on loving one another, and yourselves. You too have the power to affect positive change. Smile at the next stranger you see. Hug your friends and family. Thank yourself, for all that you are able to do, to move forward in this life, however slowly.  These are the seeds of progress. The most powerful of all actions.  Together, as one, we must action truth. Grace Tame, 7/2/2020   I respect Grace Tame .  Her recent Australia Day award speech made me, at times, hold my breath from its intense impact.  I don't respect the award she won at all and this is why.  In 2020 we gave Bettina Arndt an Australia Day Award.  She received an AM for "significant service to gender equity”.  Bettina Arndt and the interview she produced with  Grace Tame’s c onvicted Rapist, was...

"YOU CAN ASK ME ANYTHING YOU WANT. I WILL ANSWER IF I CAN."

"You can ask me anything you want. I will answer if I can" ~   By Isabella Murray I am a victim of sustained childhood sexual abuse. Between the ages of 8 and 13, I was regularly, sexually abused by my older brother. At 13, an adult man was made my legal guardian. He would raise me and become the father of my two children. At his hands I would be groomed. Separated from loved ones. Tortured. It would last 12 years. I am a survivor! In June 2021, it will be 17 years since I found my freedom! For the past 17 years, I have been on a significant journey. I have discovered a love for psychology and a person’s capacity to renew their mind. I have also found the blessing of a tribe. I have a group of so many, beautiful people, who have loved me unconditionally, accepted me as I am and most importantly, come alongside me, to do life together. My birth family, has a generational chain, of childhood sexual abuse, that goes far beyond me. Both before and after m...
